October 13, 2007

The 30th Anniversary Sea Shepherd Benefit gala called Breaking the Ice, and hosted by Mick Jagger and Pierce Brosnan, began on time and the weather was beautiful. There was even a rainbow across Santa Monica Bay.

    Sea Shepherd Conservation Society

Established in 1977, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS) is an international non-profit, marine wildlife conservation organization whose mission is to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world’s oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species. Sea Shepherd uses innovative direct-action tactics to investigate, document, and take action when necessary to expose and confront illegal activities on the high seas. By safeguarding the biodiversity of our delicately-balanced ocean ecosystems, Sea Shepherd works to ensure their survival for future generations.

Stephen Michael Watson

Stephen was born in St. Stephen, New Brunswick

on the East Coast of Canada.  He is the father

of four children and lives in London with his wife

Renee.  Stephen has been drawing and painting

since he was quite young and his artistic

development is self-directed.

He likes to work with watercolour and ink and

has experimented with acrylics and their

application to his unique style. Often his subject

matter is designed to elicit a response of the

viewer’s social and environmental conscience and

was therefore honored when his painting was

chosen to be the cover of the Sea Shepherd

Conservation Society’s (SSCS) Christmas card

in 2000.

Stephen’s paintings are very detailed, taking

upwards of a year to complete. Some of his

paintings can be seen through the fine art’s

gallery link on the SSCS web site.
